INTRODUCTION
The Trekker's Galactopedia is part of an intense personal project of mine to correlate and quantify the 30+ years of Star Trek history. Similar to the Star Trek Encyclopedia by Michael Okuda and friends, the Galactopedia intends to expand on that base with a more precise and informed quality of entry not achieved in that work. Also I am attempting to include extraneous information derived from all non-canon sources of Trek material, which i feel to be just as much a part of the Star Trek experience as those filmed adventures which have been deemed as "all-there-is" to Star Trek by Paramount Pictures. In the sixties Star Trek was about Gene and his staff's intrepid attempt to create something, but by the time the show went off the air its fate was squarely in the hands of its dedicated fans, who organized letter-writing campaigns, conventions and a massive base of written and illustrated fiction in both fan and professionally published licensed formats. After the creators had moved on and the only concern of those who own the name Star Trek was how much money they could make from it, it becomes clear to me that the true spirit of Star Trek truly lives on in the novels, comics, games and animation and not in the sad attempts at recapturing a lost spirit on screen being attempted by the soulless corporation. So here i present, the only place to find out about the Trek they dont want you to see...

HOW TO READ THE GALACTOPEDIA.

The Galactopedia is divided up like a regular encyclopedia into alphabetical sections. Each section is further divided on the basis of filesize for easy viewing. I do not intend to let any file exceed 75K-100K, therefore the letter 'A' is represented by six smaller files. If you are viewing the frames version of this page, there is an alphabetical bookmark bar occupying the top 20% of your window. Otherwise you can always return to this page by clicking the transporter icon at the bottom of each file, or browse through them successively using the back and forward arrows at the bottom. Under construction is an additional bookmark bar to the left which will take you to key sections, hyperlinking you directly to the anchor for the entry 'Spock' for example. Coming soon, each entry will contain multiple hyperlinks to any other entry referenced within its text, for example if your are reading the entry for 'Enterprise, U.S.S.', you can click on 'Constitution-class' within that entries text to further read about the vessel. Also within the Galactopedia will be directories to all episodes and stories containing a list of references contained within them. I will also begin to offer production information, reviews and opinions in those entries. Therefore, clicking on TOS episodes will show you a list of each episode and all the referenced characters and items portrayed and hyperlinks to their entries in the main body.
The Galactopedia is of course written as a real encyclopedia from the eyes of an observer in the 24th century. I have taken liberties to include information that is not common knowledge to the general public of that time period unlike the Okuda version, simply for completeness sake. Even though Kirk promised to keep Zefram Cochrane's continued existence a secret, I wil impart that information to you in the main body. Think of yourself as a near omniscient citizen of the galaxy for being able to know about these secret events. In other ways the entries are similar to those used in the Star Trek Encyclopedia, except i have taken additional care to assure that entries are sourced accurately. If i put an assumption or conjecture in i will mark it as such. Michael Okuda likes to make up very unlikely things and pass them off as fact when they are not sourced from any valid Trek literature except for his own head. I am taking additional efforts to ensure that any additional information about production and real world filming is separated from the entries of the Trek universe. Anything from our world and viewpoint will be included in italics after the main body of the entry, as to not upset the illusion of 24th century reading. This includes sources and references to actors and filmmakers involved in the series. I also am changing Okuda's style so as not to include an entry source withing a main body, so as not to disrupt the flow of the article. Okuda would cite a fact and at the end of every sentence place an episode name, which is distracting. Visually the main text is blue against black background, with entry titles color coded.
Rose entries refer to ships and installations,
Orange is governments or organizations,
Yellow is people or (intelligent) species
Grey is terms, objects or technology,
Green is places or locations.
So a sample entry:

Academy commandant.
Starfleet officer in command of Starfleet Academy, usually the rank of admiral. In 2372 the Academy commandant was a Bolian admiral who was part of Admiral Leyton's conspiracy to take over Earth. Other Academy commandants have included Admiral Brand and Admiral Pradesh. Captain Picard turned down this position in 2364 when offered it by Admiral Quinn. ("Coming of Age" [TNG]; "The First Duty" [TNG]; "Paradise Lost" [DS9 #84]; "Prime Directives" [Marvel SA #1]). The Bolian admiral, whose name wasn't alluded to in the episode, was played by Rudolph Willrich.

The title is yellow because it refers to a individual person.
The main body is blue, with hyperlinks underlined.
(The source is always parentehesesed and within quotes for any story name, followed by a production number). Extraneous information about the production is italicized also here.

Note that the entry has multiple sources, all of which are at the end, rather than interspersed so as not to break the article's flow. A sideline picture is included.

The Trekker's Galactopedia was designed for Internet Explorer 4.0+ at 800 by 600 resolution. Other resolutions may distort the text and graphics relationships. The Fullscreen feature of IE4+ is recommended.
