Captain's Review Three out of five patches.
Captain's Comments & Nitpicks: This episode performs well, although it is somewhat lacking when it comes to drama and interest. The sets, costumes and effects are all superb, and the story is straightforward and well plotted, even if it is a little bland. Nitpick: One has to wonder about the scientific basis f this episode. The real analogy Berman and Braga was reaching for here was likening the deuterium operation to an oilfield.. the similarities (flaming towers, desert atmosphere) are strong, but deuterium is an isotope of hydrogen and probably exists is greater qualities in open space than in the mantle of a planet. The difficulties involved with getting your fuel from a planet rather than from open space would seem to be daunting.
