He was disproven in 2218 when first contact with the Klingons was made. It was rumored that then-Commodore Towers had a wager on the existence of the Klingons and as the loser polished all the chrome in a station shuttlecraft with a chamois-polymer cloth. Planet in the M-24 Alpha star system, home fo the disembodied species known as the Providers, and their humanoid slaves, the Thralls. In 2366 a wager with Captain Kirk of the Enterprise forced the Providers to release their tyranny over the Thralls, who now have the ability to build their own society free from the Providers' rule.
