Captain's
Review:

Three deltas out of five. Not quite an exemplary effort, but not necessarily
bad. The artwork is passable, if dated, and the writing tries to take the
source material to a new level, marginally succeeding.

Captain's
Comments & Nitpicks:
This issue is part one of a three part adaptation of Star Trek: The Motion
Picture, and was the first Star Trek story ever published by Marvel comics.
The adaptation also appear in a Marvel special magazine. Comment:
Although it is based on the script of that episode, writer Wolfman added
several paragraphs of expository prose to the splash pages that does not
appear in the film script or the novelization. Nitpick: The
character of Commander Branch appears very different in the comic, as a
fortyish man with reddish-brown hair, possibly the artist did not have
a photo reference to that scene from the production when he was creating
the page.

Two and a half deltas out of five. This story is a bit silly, but paced
well.
