Captain's Comments & Nitpicks: Comment: This novel was apparently the source of much controversy in the Star Trek world. When originally published in 1985, "Killing Time" was pulled from bookshelves after its initial form was deemed too risqué for the close, possibly love relationship portrayed betwen Kirk and Spock A later, re-edited version was released that removed the most serious instances of Kirk and Spock's relationship being too bizarre. Apparently, author Della Van Hise was part of the active Star Trek 'slash' fiction scene which grew during the seventies, featuring many fan written stories where the relationship between Kirk and Spock was much more than friendship.
